$6 Movies

Trav and I love going to the movies. However, we do not love paying $12/person to watch what honestly might be 2.5 hours of shit. Alas, we have found two theaters in town that are only $6/person and show new releases the week they are out. Sweet!! I can pay $6 for shit. I personally get a huge high off of a good bargain.

I think in general we have become too critical of movies. I am #1 guilt of this. I mean, really, movies should be viewed as an escape from our lives. If a movie sweeps me into the story so much that I can't remember what time of day it is, it should be an A+ no matter the content of the actual film. Therefore, this is how I have begun to judge movies.

Recently we saw Easy A, The Social Network, and Wallstreet; Money Never Sleeps. So topical of us!! One thing I learned from all these movies, I like staring at beautiful people. Enter Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Shia LaBeouf (holes...sigh), and Carey Mulligan. It has been refreshing how well casted movies have become . Even if they are crap at least they are casting crap people (enter Ben Affleck)

Say what you will about the above mentioned movies - weak plots, bad writing, unrealistic settings. I really don't care what you think. If you are looking for an easy escape from what is going on in your life, go see one of these films. They are refreshingly stupid and carefree.

Time Management = Rocket Science

Did you know? Did you know that apparently time management is equally as hard as trying to propel shit into space and have it orbit other shit? It's not. Stop lying to yourself. Fools!

Sidenote Confession: This rant is being written under the influence of red wine. Just one glass but I am that kind of girl. It just takes one glass. And this is not going to be good. 

Why do people never seem to have enough time? Why is this the ultimate excuse we have all just accepted? It's donkey crap. I mean, really, it is not that hard. Did no one else learn the skills of prioritizing and productivity? I guess while everyone else was learning how to spell and speak properly, I was learning how to make a killer to-do list and achieve every item on it. The source of this rant is really the entire world. It seems to me that everyone, including me at times, loves to complain about not having enough time. Do we not realize that the time we spend speaking about not having time is time wasted? BRILLIANT!!!! Thank God I am here to solve the world's mysteries. You are all welcome.

Tegan and Sara Show, Tulsa OK September 11, 2010 Cains Ballroom
Overall Grade = A-

I love Tegan and Sara. Understatement of the year. If you have no idea who Tegan and Sara is, go away. I went to the lovely city of Tulsa yesterday to see my girls perform a two set show. First set was acoustic/awesome and second set was rock show/melt your face off. On a side note, Tulsa sucks. This may be another post if I don't get over my anger about it. But, lets proceed...

The show was amazing. It was not epic thus the A-. But this had nothing to do with the band. Tegan and Sara were epic, as usual. They played Like O Like H with so much soul and talent, I almost cried. Which I realize is ridiculous but it almost happened. Girl times...

Here the reason for the A- and my rant for the day. I am too old for shows. I am too old for shows in auditorium settings. And this is the bullshit. I am not old! I am only 24. Why do I have to like the same music as 14 year olds? It's not that I am immature in my taste and need to move on. Somehow the tweenies have found the good stash of music and are shitting all over it. Everyone around me was bored when the played "Monday" WTF!!!!

This is all I am going to say. I am learning that in my posts I need to not be long winded.

Political Intolerance

Pick a party! Have an opinion! Care!

Bullshit. I have heard people my whole life spout this malarkey. They want you to have an opinion about politics but why? So they can tell you that you are wrong! Ok before anyone gets offended, I am not addressing anyone in particular with this rant; just the general public. I am in no way passive aggressive and if I had an issue with you, you would know it. Back to my point...

I picked a party. I picked a party and did not know shit about it. I picked a party because everyone told me to. Sellout.

So this week I read about my party's platform and views on current issues. Bunch of anarchist if you ask me. Scared the shit out of me. I am associating myself with these people! When I tell people I am a ********* this is how they will view me. And if you know me at all, you know that I just adore being labeled. After all, I am a heartless robot who likes systems and order.

Here is my point. How can you pick a party? How can you hitch your wagon to just one?

" I am conservative in my fiscal views but liberal in my environmental views " WHO CARES!!

Here is my new stance. Have an opinion about everything. Stop caring about if its conservative or liberal of yourself to think this way. You are probably nuts like everyone else.

I hate ellipses. Hate them. Here's why. I appreciate people who can finish a thought and say what they want to say. Don't you love it when you get an email/text that says "I guess so..." Damn those dot dot dots! "That sounds fine..." Dearest non-committers, for the love of gosh finish a thought, say what you mean, and be done with it. Here's the truth. This blog will mostly be rants. I love to rant. It is a drug to me.

I do not think of myself as a talented writer. I am not witty. I am not clever. But here is what I am. Honest. Blunt. Logical. Vulgar. And sure as shit, I will cuss. Sometimes there is no substitute for a cuss word especially when ranting.

What you will find here is probably whatever pissed me off that particular day with some music and movie reviews thrown in there.
