I am not going to vote. Take that voter registration day! I am not going to vote because so far I don’t like my options. If you presented me with liver and onions or dry crockpot beef, I would choose hunger. Then I would prepare myself a better meal. I am trying to apply this same logic to not voting. I am search for how I can change what I don’t like about our country and government. But it sure as shit is not by voting in the presidential election. PS. I am not sure our votes really matter in the presidential election. Anyone got a good argument here? I am looking for some education in all this voting rhetoric.

Wikipedia aka The Last Resource You Will Ever Need
Google Wikipedia. Here is what comes up first
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit.
So class, does it seem like a good idea to only use Wikipedia as a source of information when asked a question? Yes, if the answer doesn't really matter and you are ok with the fact a moron may have messed with the information you are looking at.
2 separate events in the past month.
First, I was trying to determine if a drug company that is overseas is a good investment as their "big break" is on the horizon. They use to administer a drug in the USA that has now been banned (this by the way, is their big break happening overseas). I approached a friend of a friend pharmacist (smart folks, right?) and the response I got from him was just a copy of the Wikipedia page on said company. Super helpful....(by the way, we didn't recommend this investment cuz we is smart)
Second, when asking an attorney about a certain state's homestead exemption, he copy and pasted the Wikipedia information regarding this topic (kind-of). Oh ok....thanks Esquire.
So why even attend upper education? Who can afford it anyway? Wikipedia has everything we would ever need!! Problem solved - go on vaca Obama.
So when is it appropriate to use Wikipedia? When you have no idea what a GIF is and your brother-in-law uses the term twice in an email. When is it not appropriate to use Wikipedia? When having to make an irrevocable life decision. Make sense? Good. (Us Financial Planners have to be real good teachers)
Jess
PS. Both the pharmacist and attorney are over 50. When the AARP cards are issued, I guess they also need to hand out a "How to use the World Wide Web" card.
PSS. That was a harsh generalization that I kind of feel bad about but not really since my parents aren't 50...yet :)

RIP Facebook Jess
It's done. Deactivated. PS. This screen was hilarious so I thought I would share it. Look how many people will miss me! My self-worth is through the roof right now.
Now here is the real bullshit. I can't delete the FB app off of my (Android) phone. It won't let me. So I have this constant reminder of this thing I use to feel very dearly for. I will not let this conquer me though. I have decided it will be a good reminder to continue my friendship in real life and not Facebook life. Oh and I will hopefully have an iPhone in the next year so this will eliminate that issue. I hope.
Now for the detox....

Would you like change with that?
No. I would not like change. I actually hate change.
You know why I hate change? I am not hardwired in my natural self to accept change well at all. At my job, we have to do a LOT of personalty assessments. 90% of the time I think they are bullshit and a complete waste of time. Then I read the results and feel like someone spent 24 hours with me and then wrote the analysis. Shocking how factual these things can be especially when you are a robot like me.
My latest assessment said I should avoid change and essentially any shake up in my normal schedule. I think it used the word system at least 40 times. Ok, "assessment" I will try and live my life without change. But would you mind giving me some practical application here because so far in life, I seem to be a magnet for change.
Latest example: At work there use to be 3 other people that do exactly what I do. Now there is 1 other person. I should have somehow avoided this event that was completely out of my control. Just a bit of change and "shake up" happening here.
And you know what, I am doing ok with all of this. I didn't say I am doing great because that would be a lie. But I am doing ok. It's not pretty and it is not having a good effect on my body as a whole but I know that we will get to the other side of this. I have an odd peace about this at times. Other times, I completely flip out and there comes Trav with a treat for me. (He really is a good man). The peace I will always contribute to God. The freaking out I will always contribute to the assessments of myself. So Myers Briggs and Kolbe be damned! I am going to make it through this change and every other change that comes my way. I said make it through - I am not expecting a Gold metal here (USA!)
Jess
PS. This really wasn't rant-y enough so here's this. I really hate it when I pay with cash at a restaurant and the server asks if I need change. Just bring the damn change! I have never worked as a server so I don't fully understand this ploy but with me, it is guaranteed to make your tip less. Every time. For those that just bring the change, I usually tip very nicely and I am already a good tipper. Also, I bless you with a kiss on your forehead and let you kiss my ring. Cheers!

Tax Refunds = 0% Loan
It is my goal that this post will offend everyone in my life including myself. Here we go...
Tax Refunds 101. A tax refund is essentially your money that you have loaned to the government for a period of time that they then return to you. The best part, you loaned this money while charging 0% interest. This is a generalization; there are instance where you can actually get money from the government that was not yours to begin with. You pretty much have to be poor to have this happen. Yup that's right.
Tax refunds are not a bonus from the government yet this is how we all act. ALRIGHT I GOT A REFUND!!!! BIG SCREEN TV TIME!!!! (do they still call them big screens?). Come on, seriously....would our government give us a bonus? News flash, they are a tab bit broke. And would you lend money to your constantly broke cousin and always assume they are going to be able to pay you back? Especially if that broke cousin is the state of Kansas or worse the state of California.
"But I like getting that refund!" How about a raise? Do you like getting a raise? I like a raise. By the way, you can give yourself a raise; just lower your tax withholdings. But not too much because they you may owe. OH NO! THE HORROR!!!!!! I have to pay taxes because I made more money. Now that is just not fair!
And there you have it. My most boring yet educated blog post yet. And in case you are wondering (no one is), we owe this year. And I caught myself being pissed that we didn't get a refund. They I remember that I worked hard for that CFP.
Jess
PS. I have been listening to Brand New a lot today. Blame that for what just happened.
